Family of Jerry Wegscheid
Throwing out the honorary first pitches will be the
grandsons of Jerry Wegscheid; Kyle, Nolan, Lance,
Aaron, & Wade Singer. Jerry lost his battle with
cancer this past spring. Wegscheid began his love
for the game 55 years ago when he started out as a
player and then manager for Bluffton. He then went
on to manage and play for Wadena. Wegscheid was
regional commissioner for 20 years for the
Minnesota Amateur Baseball Regions 14 & 16. For
numerous years Wegscheid was the official score
keeper for the state amateur baseball tournament.
In 1986 Jerry was inducted into the Minnesota
Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame. Jerry Wegscheid
truly possessed a love for the game of baseball and
will be greatly missed.
