Wegscheid began his love for the game 55 years ago when he started out as a player and then manager for Bluffton. He then went on to manage and play for Wadena. Wegscheid was regional commissioner for 20 years for the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Regions 14 & 16. For numerous years Wegscheid was the official score keeper for the state amateur baseball tournament. In 1986 Jerry was inducted into the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame.
