September 12th 2009, was an exciting day for Paige as she was
crowned the first Miss Red River Valley Outstanding Teen.  “Competing
for MRRVOT was such an incredible experience! I had an absolute blast
getting to know all of the girls.” She says. “I’m so honored to hold this
title and represent the Red River Valley.”

Paige is currently a junior at Perham High School in Perham, MN and is
working towards graduation. After high school she plans to attend a
university and double major in Vocal Music Education and Vocal
Performance. The arts are a big part of Paige’s life and her goal as a
music educator is to share her love for the arts and appreciation of
music with her future students. Paige is very active in her community
and school and is involved in Ballet, Concert Choir, Swing Choir, and is
enjoying her role as Cinderella in her hometown community musical.

Paige is looking forward to competing for Miss Minnesota Outstanding
Teen to not only promote the Red River Valley, but her personal
platform, “It’s No Joke, Say NO to Smoke.” Everyday 6,000 teens
start smoking and 90% of all smokers started as teenagers (“American
Cancer Society.”)Over a six month period both of Paige’s grandfathers
were diagnosed with life threatening illnesses from smoking. One of
them struggles with emphysema and the other was diagnosed with lung
cancer. Both of her grandfathers began smoking in their teen years.

The issue of teen smoking and Paige’s personal experience has given her
the desire to promote teen smoking prevention. Paige has joined the
American Cancer Society in their fight to end smoking that can lead to
cancer and participate in many events that will help current smokers end
their habit. “I whole heartedly believe in what the American Cancer
Society is doing to help teen smokers and the steps they take to end
cancer that is 100% preventable” She says.  Paige’s goal as Miss Red
River Valley Outstanding Teen is to give teens the answer when
pressured to smoke. “It’s No Joke, Say NO to Smoke.”

Some  interesting facts about Paige is that she lives on a dairy farm.
“Some people laugh when I tell them I live on farm because they don’t
ever expect that. It’s taught me a lot of responsibility and I’m thankful
for that. Paige has donated 13 inches of her hair to Locks of Love, and
has performed over 25 National Anthems in honor of service men and
women.  Performing is one of my favorite things to do. Singing the
National Anthem has given me the appreciation for what
our soldiers do every day.
Be sure to stay tuned for any upcoming
events and appearances with Paige!
