| November 10, 1903. It compromised twenty November 10, 1903. It compromised twenty acres of former Soo Line Railroad Company property. With the building of the Soo Line Railroad in 1903, the local station was named Vergas. According to recollections of several local senior residents, and a former Soo Line station agent, the name was one of four in the "V" series used to designate Soo Line sleeping cars that traveled between Minneapolis, MN & Winnepeg, Manitoba. The other three were Viking, a Soo Line station west of Thief River Falls, MN, and Velno, and Venus to become the names of two small Soo Line Railroad sidings in North Dakota.
